Google adds Lens to Google Photos for Android

Google Photos announced on Twitter  that Google Lens visual search functionality is coming in the latest version of Google Photos for Android. Initially available only on Google Pixel 2 smartphones, Lens lets the user lookup artwork, landmarks, and other objects by snapping a photo, then using the “Lens” button in Google Photos to pull up relevant information. Lens also has text recognition, so a photo of a business card automatically creates a contact or a photo of an address pulls up Google Maps directions.

The Tweet also said Google Photos for iOS will get a Lens update soon, too.
